Mo 11/2 - I will check vocabulary flashcards. If you have them done for the
material we've covered so far, you can earn up to 5 pts. - Write a one half to one page letter to a
friend. Assume the friend has asked you for advice to develop a better memory and be a better student. Provide three specific
pieces of advice based on memory information we have learned. If you turn this letter in on Monday, I will award you a bonus
point. If you turn it in on Tuesday, it will recieve full credit. Be careful though--there is a football game Monday night
and there will be another assignment due Tuesday.

Fr 11/6 Write a paragraph describing an early childhood memory

Tu 9/29 - Test retake due. - Read pp 59-60. In your own words, describe three abilities of a newborn baby.
We 9/30 Write
a letter of advice (one half to one page in length) to an imaginary pregnant friend. The advice should relate to the dangers
of teratogens in her pregnancy and what she can do to protect herself from them.
Th 10/1 - Final
day of missing assignment amnesty. Turn in any missing assignment on or before this day and receive partial credit. After
this day, no previous assignments will be accepted. - Read pages 63 to 67. Then, write two facts about each
of Piaget's four stages.

Tu 10/6 Midquarter reflection: in a third
to a half a page, reflect on how satisfied you are with your performance so far in this class. Then, lay out your goal(s)

quiz on Kohlberg's theory of moral development.
Th 10/15 Read pp 89-91. Answer WTP # 5 on pg 89. Your answer
should be 4 well written, original sentences.
Fr 10/16 In preparation for next week's test, pick the five vocabulary
terms from the developmental unit that you think are most difficult. Write the term and the definition and have it ready to
turn in.
Mo 10/19 Complete five more vocabulary terms (like you did for Friday).

Introductory Unit Th 8/27 (5 points) Write a 1-page introductory note. Introduce yourself. Tell us
something unusual or memorable about you. This assignment should be handwritten, not word processed.

8/28 (10 points. 1 bonus point for word processing) Table of Contents Assignment. Take a few moments to glance at the Brief
Table of Contents at the front of the book. Focus particulalry on the names of the modules (not the chapters). You might want
to turn to a few modules and page through just to get a sense of what it's about. Then, list the two modules (not chapters)
that you find most interesting and the two modules (not chapters) that you find least interesting. In each case, provide a
one or two sentence explanation of why you find the material interesting or not.
Mo 8/31 (5 points) Return signed
parent slip and completely filled out student information sheet to class.
Tu 9/1 (10 points). Choose either Option
A or Option B. Option A: Ask five people to define what psychology is. Record their answers. Option B: Pick any individual
mentioned on page 7. Read what wikipedia.com has to say about that person and summerize what you learned in a 4- to 5-sentence
paragraph.
We 9/2 (10 points) Read pp 9-11. Then, use any 2 of the perspectives described to explain why a student
would try hard in school. You will have to read carefully to understand how to apply the perspectives. Each of your explanations
should be in a separate paragraph, and each should be 3 or 4 sentences long.
Th 9/3 (10 points) Read pp 4-6. Use
information you learn there to write 1 sentence describing the significance of each of the following in the field of
psychology: William James, Sigmund Freud, Ivan Pavlov, John Watson, and Jean Piaget.
Fr 9/4 10 point quiz. Know
the definition of psychology, the five people from Thursday's assignment, and the perspectives from Wednesday's assignment.
Remember to bring Thursday's assignment to class so I can collect and grade it.
Tu 9/8 You may retake Friday's
quiz in the MRC if you would like to raise your quiz grade. This may only be done today.
We 9/9 (10 points) Read
pp 17-18 and answer What's the Point question #1 at the bottom of page 17. Your answer should be a minimum of 3 sentences.
Th 9/10. Read pp 20-22. Be prepared for a short reading quiz at the beginning of class.
Fr 9/11 (5 points)
Check your grade on Infinite Campus. Come to class ready to turn in: the number of points possible this quarter, the number
of points you have earned, your percentage of points earned, and your letter grade.
Mo 9/14. Read pp 22-24.
Be prepared for a short reading quiz at the beginning of class.
Tu 9/15 (10 points). Identify two examples of positive
correlations and two examples of negative correlations.
We 9/16 Read pages 24-30. Write three questions you have
about experiments after doing the reading.
Th 9/17 Spend a minimum of 10 minutes reviewing material
from Mod 1. This will help you prepare for our first major test next week.
Mo 9/21 (10 points) Write two hypotheses
that a psychologist might be interested in for conducting experiments. Identify the IV and DV for each hypothesis.
We 9/23 (10 points) Read the material on ethics in human research (pp 31-32). Then describe the four ethical principles
in your own words.
