This is the companion site for the text book. Here you will find practice quizzes, electronic vocabulary flash cards, web links, and a variety of learning simulations. The first time you go here you will have to register. It is an easy process.

Introductory Unit

Th 8/26 Write a 1-page introductory note. Introduce yourself. Tell me something unusual or memorable about you. This assignment should be handwritten, not word processed.

Fr 8/27 Browse through the table of contents of the textbook. Take a look at some of the modules that catch your attention. Then, list the two modules that seem most interesting to you and the two modules that seem least intersting. For each of these four modules, provide a minimum of two sentences explaining why you selected that module.

Mo 8/30 Ask 6 people (at least 3 of whom are not at CFHS) what the definition of psychology is. Record their answers. Then write a short paragraph (4-5 sentences) that presents a personal opinion about the definitions you received.

Tu 8/31 Read class syllabus. Make at least three notes/questions in the margins as you read.

We 9/1 Have read pp 3-6. On paper, identify the significance of Wundt, James, Pavlov, and Watson in the history of psychology. Devote one to two sentences to each person, and do not copy out of the book.

Th 9/2 Have read pp 9-12. Then, explain how any two psychological perspectives might explain why a person has a drinking problem. Each explanation should be in a separate paragraph 3 or 4 sentences in length.
